Driving for Better Business

This week we shine the spotlight on the 'Driving for Better Business' podcast as we take a look at fatigue in driving. Host Simon Turner talks with Dr Paul Jackson, a Chartered Psychologist specialising in human performance who has assisted safety-critical organisations to implement fatigue risk management systems for more than 20 years. In particular they look at a landmark legal case in which the Office of Rail and Road successfully prosecuted an employer for health and safety breaches, as a result of two of its employees being killed in a road traffic collision where driver fatigue was identified as the primary cause. This week we look back over the last 30 years at the early days of what were once called driver diversion schemes – the alternatives to prosecution pioneered by certain police forces and now available across England and Wales through UKROEd and the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme.
