Descripción

Burned Out and Stuck: Where Black Women Start Over You've done everything right. And somehow you're standing at the top of the ladder, wondering why you don't want to climb anymore, or worse, not even knowing what you'd want instead. That freeze isn't a character flaw. It's not a sign that something's broken in you. It's a signal that your sacral chakra, the part of you that learned what you liked and what lit you up, went quiet a long time ago, somewhere between the degrees and the promotions and the people you were making proud. In this episode, I talk about what it actually means to reignite it, and why clarity doesn't come from thinking harder. It comes from moving. I also walk through RESET, my six-week program for high-achieving Black women who are stuck in the "in between" and don't quite know where to start. We work through listening to your body, releasing what you inherited that was never yours to carry, and mapping the desires you've been told are too much. It's not about blowing your life up. It's about creating enough space to finally hear yourself. Ep 49: Your Comfort Zone is a Big Fat Lie!

People call it a comfort zone all the time. But what if the thing you’re struggling to leave isn’t actually comfortable? In this episode, Asha unpacks the difference between what is comfortable and what is simply familiar, and why confusing the two can keep you stuck in jobs, relationships, routines, and identities that no longer fit who you are becoming. Because the truth is, most people are not staying because they feel good; they’re staying because they know what to expect. This conversation moves through nervous systems, survival instincts, language, and the stories we tell ourselves about change. Asha shares personal reflections about chronic back pain, leaving a tenured teaching career in the U.S., moving to Portugal, and what it means to stop choosing discomfort simply because it’s predictable. If you’ve been circling a decision for months, if something in your life feels heavy, restrictive, or misaligned, if you keep calling it a “comfort zone” even though it doesn’t actually feel good, this episode might help you tell the truth about what’s really happening. And once you tell the truth, the next step becomes easier to see. 00:00 - Understanding Comfort vs Familiarity 09:58 - Embracing Change and the Unfamiliar 16:56 - Identifying Your Hesitations * Why your brain mistakes familiarity for safety * The nervous system’s relationship to change and uncertainty * How language shapes the choices you believe are available to you * The hidden exhaustion of staying in lives that no longer fit * Why unfamiliar doesn’t mean dangerous * What helped Asha leave a life that looked successful on paper but no longer felt aligned * Is this situation actually comfortable or just familiar? * Am I staying because it feels good, or because I know what to expect? * What might become possible if I stopped treating unfamiliarity like danger? Ep 47: You're Not Broken: These Are Your Growing Pains

That restlessness, that emptiness you can't quite name, it's not a sign that something went wrong. It's a sign that something is ready to grow. In this episode: * What actually happened inside the first round of RESET: the real moments, not the highlight reel * Why your nervous system resists rest even when you've created the space for it (and the 20-minute practice that starts to change that) * How following someone else's script creates the exact emptiness you're trying to escape * Why I lead this container from inside the experience, not above it, and why that makes all the difference * What lineage healing actually looks like in the small, ordinary moments of your day Chapters: * (00:00) Introduction to Reset: A Journey of Reconnection * (02:05) RESET Is a Guide Back to Yourself * (03:09) Understanding Discontent: The Emotional Compass * (06:35) Nervous System Regulation: Creating Spaciousness * (08:22) The Power of Small Changes: Building Towards Transformation * (10:51) Transparency in Growth: Learning Together * (17:03) Invitation to Join Reset: Embracing Freedom and Healing Links mentioned: → Learn more about RESET [https://www.ashasplacelisbon.com/courses] (a 6-week group or a 2-day retreat)  → Join Love Notes [https://dashboard.mailerlite.com/forms/659871/112719372217222301/share]

Ep 46: You Already Hear Your Intuition, You're Just Not Listening

You Hear Your Intuition. You're Just Not Listening. It's not that your intuition went quiet. It's that you stopped recognizing it as yours. In this episode: * Why intuition often shows up like background music: present the whole time, but easy to tune out. * Two real-life moments where Asha heard her intuition and didn't realize it until later. * Why going quiet isn't about 30-minute meditations, and where you're actually missing it. * How to tell the difference between intuition and fear (hint: real intuition usually isn't emotional). * The practice of trusting what you hear before you understand why. Timestamps: * (00:00) Introduction - recording live from the streets of Lisbon * (03:36) What it actually costs you when you miss your intuition * (06:45) How to start tuning in - step one: be open * (08:30) Quieting the noise (it's smaller than you think) * (10:15) Trust it, test it, step out on faith Links mentioned: → RESET [https://www.ashasplacelisbon.com/courses] - Asha's 6-week program + 2-day retreat option for women ready to hear and act on their intuition → Join Love Notes [https://dashboard.mailerlite.com/forms/659871/112719372217222301/share] If this touched something in you, Love Notes was made for you. It's a weekly email for high-achieving Black women who've done everything right and still feel like something's missing; self-trust, nervous system, and coming home to the freedom that's always been yours.

Ep 45: Here’s Why You've Done Everything Right and Still Feel Empty

You've Done Everything Right and Still Feel Empty You've got the credentials, the career, the life that looks excellent on paper, and still, privately, something feels off. This episode is about why thinking harder won't fix that. In this episode: * Why your patterns aren't stored in your mind; they're stored in your body, your breath, your posture * What nervous system regulation actually means for high achievers (it's not bubble baths) * The difference between understanding why you're stuck and actually being able to move * Ancestral connection as a resource, and why your ancestors wanted you free, not impressive * The "between shells" moment: what it means to be in transition and why it's supposed to feel uncomfortable Timestamps: * (03:15])Why thinking and talk therapy aren't enough * (06:45) What nervous system regulation actually means * (10:30) Ancestral healing and what's yours to carry forward * (13:00) The hermit crab and the "between shells" identity shift * (17:00) Three things to start noticing in your body today * (20:15) RESET: formats, dates, and early bird details Links mentioned: * RESET [https://www.ashasplacelisbon.com/courses]: online, in-person Lisbon, and 2-day retreat formats * Join Love Notes [https://dashboard.mailerlite.com/forms/659871/112719372217222301/share]
