Descripción

In this episode of Beyond the Arches, Dr. Daniel Noorthoek and Erica sit down with Alex, Dawn's daughter from last week's episode, and the first voice patients hear when they call Done In One. Alex works remotely from Indiana as a Patient Treatment Coordinator, and her path to that role is one of a kind: she was a patient first. Alex shares a decades-long dental history that started with root resorption from early braces, deepened when her family lost insurance, and accelerated when her teeth began breaking off at 17. At 18, she had root canals, posts, and crowns placed on every remaining tooth over the course of a year, only to watch them fail within months. Facing an implant quote far out of reach as a young waitress, she got dentures at 21, then took matters into her own hands by buying a Dremel, teaching herself on YouTube, and rebuilding her denture fit at home. During COVID, she started sharing her journey on TikTok and built a following inside the denture and implant community, which is how Done In One eventually found her. Alex and her mom, Dawn, had their full-arch surgeries on the same day roughly four years ago. Alex has had two implants fail and be replaced over the years, and she describes how smoothly each was handled, with no pain, no infection, and no drama. She also shares how a small bite adjustment along the way nearly eliminated her TMJ pain. The conversation also gets personal: her remote workday rhythm, her move from rural Pennsylvania to Indiana, popcorn ceilings she scraped off by hand, rock tumbling, her dogs Buster and Vincent, and a childhood pet possum named Mickey. At its core, this episode is about why Alex is often the perfect first call for a nervous lead. She has personally lived through many of the same fears and questions that new patients bring to her today. If you haven't heard Ep. 48 with her mom, Dawn, yet, give it a listen for the other half of this mother-daughter story. šŸŽ§ Listen now and go beyond the arches with us! šŸ’» Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com šŸ“© Email questions or comments: smile@getdoneinone.com ā˜Žļø Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812 šŸ“² FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 53 - Building Boca Perio: Dr. John Lindsay’s Story

In this episode of Beyond the Arches, Dr. Daniel Noorthoek and Erica sit down with longtime Boca periodontist Dr. John Lindsay to talk about the career, philosophy, and relationships that helped shape one of South Florida’s most respected periodontal practices. Dr. Lindsay shares his journey from rural Missouri to building a practice in Boca Raton, reflects on the early days of implant dentistry, and discusses how periodontics has evolved over the last several decades. The conversation dives into mentorship, surgical philosophy, balancing technology with fundamentals, and the collaborative ā€œdental floorā€ culture that helped make Boca Perio what it is today. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Lindsay talks about his love of running, skiing, fishing, golf, and mountain life in North Carolina—but at the heart of the episode is something much simpler: people. After more than 35 years in practice, Dr. Lindsay explains why the relationships he’s built with patients are still the reason he loves coming to work every day. The episode closes with reflections on legacy, practice transitions, and what it means to build a patient-first office culture rooted in trust, consistency, and long-term care. šŸŽ§ Listen now and go beyond the arches with us! šŸ’» Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com šŸ“© Email questions or comments: smile@getdoneinone.com ā˜Žļø Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812 šŸ“² FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 52 - Refresh Cases: Rebuilding Full-Arch Cases — Part 2

In Part 2 of the Refresh series, Erica is joined by Dr. Daniel Noorthoek and Dr. Sarah Laks to continue the conversation on one of the most complex areas of full-arch dentistry — refresh cases. These are patients who come to Done In One after already receiving implant treatment elsewhere, often dealing with failed work, long-term temporaries, or systems that no longer support a stable final result. The team dives deeper into what happens behind the scenes once a refresh case is accepted, including identifying implant systems from imaging alone, sourcing compatible parts, and determining when existing implants can be integrated versus when they need to be replaced. Dr. Dan explains the importance of standardizing these cases into the Done In One system for predictability and long-term support, while Dr. Laks breaks down how implant positioning and component compatibility directly impact restorative design, material strength, and the final zirconia outcome. Beyond the technical side, the conversation highlights the patient experience — many refresh patients arrive frustrated, discouraged, or unsure of where to turn after previous treatment. The team discusses why a solutions-focused approach is key, and how bringing structure, clarity, and long-term maintenance into these cases helps rebuild trust and ultimately leads to more stable, successful outcomes. šŸŽ§ Listen now and go beyond the arches with us! šŸ’» Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com šŸ“© Email questions or comments: smile@getdoneinone.com ā˜Žļø Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812 šŸ“² FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 51 - The First Voice Patients Hear: Connection, Volume, and Trust

Dr. Daniel Noorthoek and Erica sit down with Robert Odom and Alex for a conversation that explores the patient journey from an angle most people never see—the very first phone call. What makes this episode unique is that both Robert and Alex are Done In One patients themselves. Today, they sit on the other side of the experience, helping guide new patients through the earliest and often most overwhelming stage of the process. Alex, who works remotely from Indiana as a Patient Advocate, is often the first voice patients hear when they reach out. She talks about how her own journey as a patient naturally shapes the way she communicates—especially with anxious callers—and why she only brings that experience into conversations when it genuinely helps build trust and clarity, not as a sales tool. Robert joins from the marketing side to break down how leads are generated, how patient stories fuel the majority of Done In One’s messaging, and why the organization has intentionally built a system centered on human connection rather than call centers or scripts. Together, they explore how Alex acts as the critical bridge between marketing and treatment coordination, and how that handoff impacts both patient experience and overall case flow. The conversation also dives into what it actually looks like behind the scenes: managing high-volume inquiries across multiple locations, using CRM systems and automation tools like HubSpot, and balancing efficiency with a deeply personal, conversation-driven approach. They also discuss how AI is beginning to support administrative work—freeing up more time for meaningful patient interaction rather than replacing it. At its core, this episode is about trust from the very first touchpoint—and how two patients now help shape that experience for every new person who reaches out. šŸŽ§ Listen now and go beyond the arches with us! šŸ’» Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com šŸ“© Email questions or comments: smile@getdoneinone.com ā˜Žļø Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812 šŸ“² FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 50 - "Remember When…" 50 Episodes of Beyond the Arches

To celebrate 50 episodes of Beyond the Arches, Dr. Daniel Noorthoek and Erica do something a little different. Inspired by the classic Friends "Remember When…" episodes, they take a step back to revisit the moments, stories, and conversations that have defined the first year of the show. The episode opens where it always has, with the patients. Through a montage of clips, listeners get a look back at the wide range of people who've sat down to share their stories, from patients fresh out of surgery to those years into life with their new smile. Their backgrounds and life experiences vary, but their journeys share a familiar arc. Years of struggle, a turning point, the search that led them to Done In One, a process that wasn't as scary as expected, and a life on the other side that changed in the best way possible. From there, Dr. Dan walks through the team that's brought it all to life. Each team member's voice comes back into focus, including their philosophies, their day-to-day approach with patients, and the moments that have shaped how Done In One operates. The conversation also revisits a few unforgettable guest appearances and behind-the-scenes moments that capture what makes this team different. 50 episodes in, the takeaway is the same as episode one: it's always been about the patient. Treat people like family. Do things the right way.
