Now Will You Listen? | Black T

For generations, Black women have spoken with clarity about injustice, democracy, economic inequity, and the cost of ignoring truth. Too often, our warnings were dismissed, our leadership questioned, our philanthropy overlooked, and our stories rewritten through someone else’s lens.In this powerful episode of Black T, Give Black Alliance convenes an intergenerational conversation among five Black women leaders to confront a persistent reality: Black women have long seen what others refused to acknowledge. From the erasure of our historical contributions to the reshaping of our philanthropic traditions, Black women’s voices have repeatedly been minimized—even as our communities relied on the institutions, movements, and strategies we built. We have financed freedom, sustained families, funded resistance, and strengthened democracy, often without recognition or authorship of our own narrative. Against the backdrop of unprecedented political upheaval and social uncertainty, this conversation asks a direct and urgent question:If history has proven Black women right time and again—why weren’t we heard? And now, as the consequences of those ignored warnings unfold, we return to the question that echoes across generations:Now will you listen?Grounded in Give Black Alliance’s Five T’s of Philanthropy—Time, Talent, Treasure, Ties, and Testimony, this 60-minute dialogue challenges the deficit narratives surrounding Black communities and reclaims the truth about Black women’s leadership, foresight, and enduring commitment to building a more just society.Because this moment is not about saying we told you so.It’s about finally listening to the voices that have always been telling the truth.
