Taming the Tongue

The Lord's Will

1. Making plans in our arrogance is frustrating, futile, and foolish. 2. Entrusting our lives to the Lord is good and right.

Humble Submission

1. ‎Submit to God (v. 7a). 2. Resist the devil (v. 7b). 3. Draw near to God (v. 8a). 4. Repent of sin (vv. 8b-9). 5. Humble yourself (v. 10).

From Pride to Grace

1. ‎Divided hearts create divided relationships (vv. 4-5). 2. Humility can heal what pride divides (v. 6).

Wisdom from Above

1. ‎Biblical wisdom is shown by the believer's good conduct (v. 13). 2. Biblical wisdom stands in sharp contrast to a godless counterfeit (vv. 14-16). 3. Biblical wisdom is characterized by Godly characteristics (vv. 17-18).

Taming the Tongue

1. ‎Recognize that we will be held accountable for our speech (3:1-2). 2. Recognize the great power of the tongue (3:3-5a). 3. Recognize our inability to tame the tongue (3:5b-8). 4. Recognize that our words are an indication of our heart (3:9-12).
