In this episode I describe how that song writers have a often limited themselves by thinking they have to be so raw and real with their emotions and their experiences as they incorporate them into songwriting. Each time you write a song that has depressing lyrics, you will have to revisit those same emotions every time you sing that song. If you’re writing a song about your old boyfriend… what about when the new boyfriend comes, how is that going to feel? You’re the artist. You can paint whatever you want.
