His ethos of living right now, right in the moment because we may never get the chance again is inspiring. He stopped by the studios of WMUH 91.7 FM Allentown during my weekly radio show for a visit and to talk about his upcoming art show. Heavy metal fan, horror film lover, drummer, meditation advocate, badass and high school english teacher?  In this episode of the Bulldog Cafe Podcast I talk with Mr. Christopher Barnes high school english teacher at Northern Lehigh High School.  In his first year of teaching in the high school after years of teaching at the districts middle school we talk about why he wanted to become a teacher, his unorthodox classroom and his love of his students. At a time when teachers are under more pressure than ever, Mr. Barnes seems to find a daily calm in his classroom. Not that all days are ideal but with an attitude that his students understand, he like others in his profession bring out the best in their students. Ever dream of giving up the career and going all Eddie Albert and Zsa Zsa Gabor buying a farm and making it work?  Welcome to Kreeky Tree Farm the organic farm owned and operated by Chris Gangi and Allan Schanbacher.  Chris the former Creative Director for Organic Gardening and Organic Style magazines and Alan with a career in NYC and Phoenix restaurants and food styling have created a successful business in Slatington PA.  With various breeds of chickens, goats, horses, poitou donkeys and two Toulouse geese every day is a long one.  In this episode we talk about the efforts and rewards that come with hard work and a dedication to organic gardening and farming.  We sat down in the barn on a dreary day, listen closely and you can hear the roosters and the occasional chatter from the geese outside the door.  The barn is cozy with a full industrial kitchen where Allan creates beautiful goats milk cheeses, hot sauces and canned vegetables from Chris’ garden.  Farmers, neighbors but most of all two of my best friends.  After listening I think you’ll feel the same. BCPodcast 004 Pat Heine

Pat would go.  In this episode I talk with Pat Heine. Video Producer for Hearst Publishing Bicycling and Runner’s World digital media group. When I made a list of the people I wanted to interview for the podcast Pat was always on the short list.  With his start in production work during college in Ohio and then Germany, his work at last year’s Tour de France, to combining ultra running with his current career at Hearst he is full of great stories. I’ve always been fascinated with Pat’s abilities in the ultra running community.   We talk about his low key approach to fitness, training and recovery.  In addition to the    preparation and impact of traveling for races near home or in Europe. So the next time it’s cold, raining or snowing and you might not want to venture out for your workout, just say to yourself Pat would go.  Works every time.
