In 1957, a Brazilian man reported being chased down by a flying craft shining a bright red light. His wild tale of what happened aboard the ship made for sensational news. There have been countless reports like his of people being taken against their will by beings not of this world. Is this obviously the work of space aliens, or could there be other explanations? This week we continue discussing the crimes of Israel Keyes, starting with the horrendous abuse of Samantha Koenig.  The lack of prior planning, out of character for Keyes, eventually led to his capture.  Without the ensuing months of interrogation, we would have known very little about what actually happened to Samantha, along with Bill and Lorraine Currier.  Although he alluded to many other murders, the actual number of people he killed will forever be left to speculation because he refused to provide any details. Are monsters born evil, or are they made? That is the great debate in the true crime community. This week we cover one of the most evil serial killers of the modern age, Israel Keyes. Keyes himself believed that he was born evil, and that nothing in his life lead him down the path he took. This path led him all over the United States, leaving a trail of victims, most of whom were never identified. On June 6, 1996, Devon and Damon Routier were stabbed to death in their Texas home while they slept. Their mother, Darlie, went on trial, was convicted for one of the murders, and sentenced to death. We're back this week with The Abduction of Jaycee Lee Dugard (Part 2). When we left Part 1, Jaycee (11) had been abducted on her way to the bus stop by convicted sex offender Phillip Garrido and his wife Nancy. They've taken Jaycee 120 miles away to their home to be handcuffed and locked in a soundproof room. She is raped a week later by Phillip, and has no idea that for the next 18 years this will be her life. In Part 2, we discuss the struggles of those long years in captivity, and celebrate the triumphs that freedom would eventually bring.
