Pitching Drills, Clutch Mindset, and Plays of the Week

Marc Deschenes and Zach Sorensen are back for another week of Cold Weather Bats Northeast. Marc kicks things off with the first drill in the Fab Five pitching series, Back Foot Stays. It's a simple daily routine that builds alignment, a strong base, and a consistent release. Then Zach shares a mindset lesson he picked up from Manny Ramirez in Cleveland. Two words. That's me. The guys talk about why celebrating good swings and good pitches matters just as much as fixing the bad ones, and Zach tells the story of Hunter Greene wearing the t-shirt before a postgame interview. Flashing Leather rolls through the top plays across New England, including Cody Averill, CJ Berlingo, Landon Kiko, Vinny Bardaro, Brookline's walk-off, Caleb Raymond's fifteen-K shutout, and Braden Whipple stealing home for Nonnewaug. The guys also break down what it really means to be clutch. The Player Spotlight goes to Brody Bumilla, the left-handed pitcher out of Massachusetts with the cross-body angle, upper-nineties fastball, sweeping slider, and a changeup that has every coach watching. It's Time to Get in the Game

Cold Weather Bats is heading Northeast. Zach Sorensen and Marc Deschenes introduce Cold Weather Bats Northeast, a platform built to spotlight players, coaches, and programs across the Merrimack Valley and beyond. In this debut episode, Zach and Marc break down what CWB NE is all about: player visibility, player development resources, mental performance coaching, and connecting the next generation of baseball talent with the coaches and scouts who can take them further. Marc shares his background in elite baseball and why he spent the last several years coaching mental performance at the major league level. Zach shares his own path to the big leagues as an infielder. Together, they introduce a third partner, Mark Budzinski, currently the first base coach for the Toronto Blue Jays, who represents exactly the kind of pathway CWB NE wants to help Northeast players chase. Every Monday, CWB NE will spotlight a program and its players. Coaches, players, and programs are invited to get involved. The platform is yours. Let's go.
