Current Wave
There is a way of being that remembers. A way of living that is not separate from the Earth, the animals, or the unseen layers of life—but deeply in relationship with them. A way that honors death as part of life, listens to what is subtle, and trusts that there is intelligence moving through everything… if we slow down enough to feel it. In this episode of Current Wave, I’m joined by Abigail Hines — healing practitioner, medicine weaver, and vocalist — for a conversation on animal communication, death and reciprocity, ancestral practices, and the deeper ways we can return to right relationship with the natural world. We speak about what it means to process animals in ceremony, not as something transactional, but as something sacred. Abigail shares the story behind her “Squirrel to Soup” practice, and how working with animals in both life and death became an initiation into deeper presence, reverence, and connection. We also explore the ways animals communicate with us—through intuition, sensation, and subtle knowing—and how reconnecting to these channels can awaken parts of ourselves that have been dormant. This conversation moves between the grounded and the mystical. From food, land, and nourishment… to whales, sound, and the unseen realms of communication that exist beyond language. At its core, this episode is about remembering that we are not separate. We are part of a living, breathing, communicating world. And there is a different way to be in relationship with it. In this episode, we explore: * Returning to right relationship — animals, land, death, and reciprocity * “Squirrel to Soup” — processing animals as ceremony, not consumption * The disconnection of modern life — and the longing to return to something more real * Whale medicine and sound — voice, intuition, and spiritual communication * Animal communication — intuition, subtle perception, and listening beyond language * Death as initiation — reclaiming reverence for life through honoring death * The unseen world — spirit, sensation, and the intelligence of nature * Remembering our place — as humans within (not above) the natural world This episode is for you if you’ve been feeling the pull to reconnect—with nature, with your intuition, or with something ancient within yourself. If you’ve been questioning the disconnection of modern life and craving a deeper, more honest relationship with the world around you. It’s also for anyone curious about animal communication, ancestral practices, embodiment, and the quieter ways of knowing that live beneath the surface. 🎧 Listen now and subscribe for more conversations on spirituality, embodiment, creativity, and returning to what is real.
