Designing Tomorrow Ep 1 The True Cost of Clothing - A Conversation with Jennifer Droguett

Welcome back to season 2 of LCFs Designing Tomorrow podcast. This season is quite different from the previous one, instead of sharing about entrepreneurship, we will be tapping into the consumer aspect of fashion and sustainability.  We will be educating you all on the large issues which the fashion industry faces and then we will introduce you to some innovative solutions and the choices we can make to shape a better industry.  Today, we’re going to explore one of the most common questions in the world of fashion: What is the true cost of clothing? Why does sustainable fashion cost more? And what are the differences between conventional fashion products and sustainable fashion alternatives? We are also joined by the incredibly talented designer Jennifer Droguett, the founder of the sustainable fashion brand Anciela. Anciela blends Latin heritage with sustainability, creating beautiful pieces that focus on cultural richness and ethical fashion. She has also worked with other well-known clothing brands, is well experienced in both conventional fashion and sustainable fashion. In this episode, we talk about how hard it is to run a sustainable business, how to make conscious decisions and also shared a lot about how to consume in a more sustainable way. Designing Tomorrow is a legacy project undertaken as part of the MA Fashion Entrepreneurship & Innovation course at London College of Fashion. This means it's a farewell from us; Amayo Duke, Kanishka Singh and Anqi Wen as we hand over this podcast to the new MAFE&I cohort. To culminate "Your Guide to Suistainable Entrepreneurship", we recorded our final episode as a live panel event on the 23rd of May in front of the entire cohort with our wonderful guests: Emma Garner of Isla De Gar, Sierra Ndagire of Crolage, Sabrina Reinke of POM and Tamanna Chawla of Curated Findings.
