Occasionally, I come across a policy/law/municipal code that I realize was enacted just 'cause a few folks abused the privilege and the words were put in place to prevent such future problems. I reside in a village that wants all the garbage bins to be unseen from the front view of the house, unless it's collection day, for example. I get it. For what it's worth, the code isn't enforced. Today, I applied for a temporary position at a major music publisher, and during the application process they asked for disclosure of any 'side gigs' [their words, not mine] that potentially be considered as a conflict of interest. Given that during my employ at a variety of intellectual property companies, and had my own business running in similar, but certainly not competing, specialities, this new policy is of interest. As a homeowner, household emergencies sometimes align with previously-scheduled events, such that the impact of that emergency is more easily endured by not actually being in the household during the event itself, and that my absence isn't contributing to worsening the situation, either. I'm channeling Benjamin Franklin today after stressing the well. And, like his sentiment of this quote, as published in Poor Richard's Almanac, is all about showing up in life, being aware and present, at all times, not just when the dosh is good. For me, that mindset was eliminated while destitute, but I don't wish that on anyone. But, I do wish to share the simplicity of not taking anything/anyone for granted. For me, when all else fails, forgiveness of self and all those around us, is the way forward. An extra dose is laid on for the spiritual attackers. You know, the 2.0 souls (second gen) figured their plans and actions would ever be seen. Oops. They hadn't planned on the two 1.0 souls (the ones with all the gifts) would be brought back together, facing one another as target and hitman. Their best guy is unknowingly going to be reunited with his eternal love, who was hired to eliminate his target. Ooh, didn't see that coming, did ya?
