Bret McCauley and Ben Hess Called to War

The Fridge Friends Podcast welcomes two veterans of foreign wars Bret McCauley and Ben Hess. Ben and Brett met each other as Marines who were being trained to become highly skilled personal security at Camp David. They protected former president George W. Bush and his annoying dog. Both these men enlisted in the marines prior to the infamous September 11th attack on the World Trade Center. They tell the story of what it was like to be active duty military when the towers fell and America was called to war. Ben Hess shares stories of his service in an active war zone overseas. Brett who is lucky to be alive relives the heroic experience of being shot in in combat and then making the design to return to the war zone. During his second trip to Iraq Brett was targeted by insurgents who bombed a transport truck he was traveling in filled with fellow Marines who lost their lives. Miraculously Brett lived and recalls the memory of riding in a military vehicle through a war zone one moment and the next waking up back in the United States in a hospital bed. This episode is filled with tales of courage and camaraderie but also romance and hilarity. As both Ben and Brett talk about dating the same woman while stationed at Camp David.
