It can also be found in his short story collection titled The Lady, or the Tiger? and Other Stories, published by Scribner's in 1884. Frank R. Stockton was born on April 5, 1834, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and died on April 20, 1902. This story is in the public domain.
