In episode 04, Hilary learns about the relationship between extractive industries and museums from Camille-Mary Sharp. As a Ph.D. candidate at the Faculty of Information, University of Toronto, Camille-Mary is bridging the fields of museology and political economy. Her research explores the implications of sponsorship by the petroleum industry for museum practices in Canada. Together, Hilary and Camille-Mary dive into the history of the oil industry's involvement with Canadian cultural institutions, different aspects of her research, her thoughts on recent calls for boycotting the Science Museum in London, England, and more. NFTs… An acronym that seems to be everywhere these days. In this episode, Hilary talks with Annabel Keenan, a fine art advisor and art writer based in New York. Annabel uses both her advisory business and her writing to promote sustainable practices in the art world and recently has been focusing on the environmental impact of blockchain-based artworks known as NFTs or Non-fungible tokens.
