No Hoop, No Frame, No Limits!

I'm a frame-free, hoop-less hand quilter, but I didn't start out that way. My quilting inspirations have roots within a wooden quilting frame, and my initial hand quilted stitches started out within a hoop, but I never learned how to use that frame, and my quilting stitches almost ended inside that very same hoop. Thanks to a chance comment from a kind quilt shop owner, I found the confidence to stop trying to follow the quilting rules that don’t actually exist, and instead to listen to my body and do what felt natural and comfortable. The Anatomy of a Quilt

The Hand Quilted Podcast is about life’s lessons learned one stitch at a time, but it can be hard to share those lessons learned without using, or at least referring to, the different parts of a quilt, and how it's constructed.  I would like for my stories to be accessible to those beyond the quilting community, and as such I’d like to make sure we all share a vocabulary and an understanding of the same vernacular.  So, let’s pause from the storytelling for a moment and focus on building that shared language around quilts and quilting terminology, at least as I understand it and tend to use it.
