What does it really mean to “do the work of an evangelist”?On our spring break mission trip with the BCM, Pastor Jonathan (PJ) spent time pouring into us as college students—sharing both a message and his personal testimony of how God called him into ministry.The conversation centered on Second Epistle to Timothy 4:5:“But as for you, exercise self-control in everything, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” (CSB)We unpacked it piece by piece:• But as for you — God speaks personally to each of us.• Exercise self-control — choosing obedience even when it’s difficult.• Endure hardship — if it’s endurable, endure it.• Do the work of an evangelist — share the good news with the gifts God has given you.• Fulfill your ministry — be faithful with the responsibility God has placed in your life.Hearing PJ’s testimony alongside this passage was a powerful reminder that God calls ordinary people to faithfully walk out the ministry He places before them.Thank you PJ for investing in us this spring break.
