History Squirt
In this episode of History Squirt, we uncover the Gold of Toulouse — one of the most infamous heists and curses in ancient history. When the Romans sacked the city of Tolosa (modern Toulouse) in 106 BC during the Cimbrian War, they looted over 50 tons of gold and silver from sacred temples. Almost immediately the treasure vanished under mysterious circumstances, with most of the Roman soldiers guarding it turning up dead or missing. What followed was a trail of betrayal, greed, and supposed divine punishment that haunted the Roman Republic for generations. It’s a story packed with stolen Celtic gold, political scandals, military disaster, and one of the greatest unsolved treasure mysteries of the ancient world. Let’s Squirt! Also Ron’s thought of the week on Quentin Tarantino.
