For the past few months, we have been hearing a lot about making India self-reliant, and the buzzword word “atmanirbharta” has been misused without appropriate context. So, my aim for today will be to shake off the political appeal given to the term and talk about its implications for India in a macroeconomic sense. To explain what is possibly wrong with Modi's atmanirbhar Bharat I will draw some insights from a policy paper published by Arvind Subramanian and Shoumitro Chatterjee.

From time to time unemployment numbers make headlines in India but most of the time these numbers fade away from the public's eye and no one tries to understand the underlying significance of the matter. So, in this episode, I am going to talk about India’s unemployment issue in a way that you can make sense of it. I am going to examine the past and present conditions of unemployment, employment, and the Labour force participation rate (LFPR) in India because in emerging economies like India Unemployment number alone fail to paint the whole picture. Later in the episode, I am going to briefly talk about sector-wise performance and some of the possible solutions proposed by economists for long term sustainable growth.

National Education Policy has made headlines on 30th July and it has received both criticism and adulation from various stakeholders ever since it was unveiled by the ministry of education. In this episode, I have briefly talked about the 66-page long document released by the Ministry of education. The critical question we tried to answer wasn't whether one agrees with the policy but it was about how the ideas laid down are going to manifest into reality? I kept the content of the episode limited to primary education for this episode.
