What is the Special Pathogens Unit?

If a patient in Indiana is ever suspected to have a highly-infectious disease, like Ebola for example, that patient would be transferred to the Methodist Hospital Special Pathogens Unit (SPU). The patient would receive care from IU Health team members who volunteer on the SPU team.
