Scouting Principles

-Is the player '6'4 period' or 6'4 AND' -Scouting for what matters vs. what doesn't -Having the courage to be 'contrarian and right' -Our bias to 'scout what we can see' (linear) -Negativity Bias (we focus on what they can't do instead of what they can -The edge is in the non-linear aspects

Belonging

- A quote from Owen Eastwood's book - It's undervalued because you can't see it and it's difficult to measure -Start with Belonging -Florida Panthers and Western Michigan players post-championship, "This is the closest team I've ever played for."

Principles, Not Systems

Topics -The downsides of systems (longer feedback loop, fragile) -Principles teach the why both implicitly and explicitly -The use case for inverted offensive games to focus attention and intention -Examples of teaching OZP and entry using constraints and incentives
