Descripción

Lately, we’ve been talking about sacred chaos—what it looks like to walk with Jesus when life is full, noisy, and anything but tidy. We’ve talked about new growth in busy seasons, and we’ve talked about building a “trellis” of small rhythms to help that growth last. On today’s episode, I want to do something a little different. I want you to hear from someone who lives this out in real life—my husband, Jake. He works in corporate America, juggles family life, church responsibilities, friendships, helping edit my new book The Reckoning and he knows what it is to feel stretched and yet still want to walk closely with Jesus.

episode S2 E3: A Rhythm for Your Sacred Chaos artwork

S2 E3: A Rhythm for Your Sacred Chaos

Today I want to get very practical. If God has been growing something real in you, how do you give that growth a little support so it doesn’t just sprawl all over the ground and get trampled by hurry? Gardeners use something called a trellis—a simple structure that gives a living vine something to climb on. The trellis doesn’t create life, but it helps the life that’s already there grow in the right direction.  Spiritually, Christians have found success with having a handful of simple rhythms that keep us rooted in Jesus in every season, including the busy ones. Here’s the thing: most of us already have a pattern or rhythm of life; we’ve just never named it. For many people, it might look like this: Check phone as soon as you wake up, get caught up in answering messages.Rush all day. Zone out by scrolling or binging TV in the evening. Fall into bed exhausted. That’s a pattern. It’s shaping our souls whether we realize it or not.

S2 E2: When New Growth Collides with Real Life Busyness

f you’re anything like me, your calendar right now might look a little wild. End‑of‑school stuff, graduations, summer plans, sports, work, family—suddenly the quiet spaces you had in earlier months feel like they’ve been swallowed up. And in the middle of that, you might be wondering, “What happens to the new growth God started in me? Is it just going to get choked out by busyness? Am I ‘backsliding’ if my schedule is full?” That’s what today’s episode, “When New Growth Meets Real‑Life Busyness,” is all about. I want to encourage you: busier days do not cancel what God is doing in you. But they do invite you to walk with Him a little differently. Because it’s one thing to talk about growth when you’re on a quiet retreat with a journal and a cool beverage. It’s another thing when you’re searching for a missing shoe and answering three texts and burning dinner—all at the same time.

episode S1 E45: When Your Soul Feels Dry artwork

S1 E45: When Your Soul Feels Dry

Today’s episode is for the person who doesn’t necessarily feel guilty…but feels dry. Spiritually dry. Tired. Numb. Like the well has run low and the ground of your soul is cracked.  Spiritual dryness is that season when you still believe, you still love God, you still show up—but you feel like someone turned the volume down on your heart. ·      You open your Bible and the words feel flat. ·      You sing in worship, but your emotions lag behind. ·      You pray, but it feels like your words float up and hit the ceiling. You might even feel guilty about feeling this way, like, “I should be more on fire for God. I should feel more.” But instead, you feel like dry ground that hasn’t seen rain in a while. If that’s you, I want you to know: you are not alone. Scripture is full of people who walked through dry places with God. And God doesn’t reject them for it; He meets them in it.
