One of the main misunderstandings of Christianity is that it creates miserable people. And yet, Jesus compares Christianity to a wedding celebration! In this message from Mark 2:18–22, we’ll see how the Pharisees’ man-made rules and traditions created critical people and deceived people, and that Christ came to bring joy like that of a wedding celebration.

Jesus, Friend of Sinners

As humans, we tend to be careful who we associate with or are seen with, which can be a good or bad thing. What shocked Jewish leadership, however, was when they saw Jesus openly and willingly hanging out with a rough crowd! Yet Jesus uses this as a tremendous teaching moment in Mark 2:13–17. We'll learn that Jesus came to call sinners, came to sit with sinners, and came to heal sinners.

A popular trend on social media is to post "a day in the life" videos. But what if you could catch a glimpse into a day in the life of a perfect person? In our text today from Mark 1:29–39, we get just that. We see 24 hours with Jesus. How did he spend his time, and what did he prioritize? In studying these verses, we'll learn how we're to live dependent on Christ, be devoted to God in prayer, and remain dedicated to His mission.
