This is my midyear recap of all the books, 34 in total, I've read in 2021 so far. My focus in 2021 has been to read more history, biographies and fantasy. History and biographers to improve my ability to connect the dots across past events. Fantasy because I'm inspired to learn more about world building, character creation and story arcs. If you have any book recommendations for me then please shoot me a DM on my socials. Thanks! Lou on Twitter: https://twitter.com/louisdallo Lou on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/loudallo/

I sat down for a conversation with Joe DaSilva to talk about the rise of the retail investor. During this conversation we discuss Robinhood, the behavioral economics side of stock trading and the market conditions that led to the rise of the personal investor. This podcast was inspired by Joe's recent article titled 'New Kids On The Street - Lessons Learned From Behavioral Economics': https://bit.ly/3eiXqCv You can find Joe on Twitter here: https://bit.ly/3vIqfOH

In this episode I talk about a topic that I believe is sensationalized for egoistical gain; meditation. In short, I describe meditation as the pre-emptive exercise we need for dealing with life. Mindfulness is the theory which we carry throughout every day occurrences. I tell the story about how I came to grips with having high functioning anxiety and how a date with my current girlfriend sent me into the world of spirituality. My main focus in sharing my experience with meditation: 1. I want to break the stigma that meditation/mindfulness is for the weak, lost or cooky 2. I want to be an example of masculinity with a side of self-compassion 3. I wish to live an examined life; I share my ideas, experiences and beliefs with others to attract likeminded individuals Enjoy!

Here is the story about how I built myself into a runner to complete the 2018 New York City Marathon I threw up from running more than sickness as a youth. Running was an absolute punishment to me. This was an activity for thin people. I hated gym class and any time a coach told us to ‘line up’. I told myself that I wasn’t physically built to run; running isn’t in the family. Growing up as a big kid, I believe that my physical role was to be powerful, strong and slow moving. How limiting... In this episode I talk about: - The breakup that inspired me to sign up for this race - How I spent a year training & the lessons learned - Advice on how to start a running habit - What this experience taught me about myself - & more Enjoy!

This episode marks the beginning of something I've wanted to do for a while now. Starting a podcast. I discuss a bit about how I overcame the imposter syndrome effect and getting started with creating a podcast. I also talk about my pilot program where I share tips & tricks from my life based on popular New Year's resolutions. How to Read More: - Starting slow with 15 minutes a day - Read what you love until you love to read - Don't read books because people tell you to - Practice the habit of finishing books - Spending money on books Enjoy!
