When I ask what the most courageous thing you’ve ever done is, I’m talking about the thing that you personally feared the most intensely, but you faced squarely anyway. Was it physically scary, emotionally scary, or both? How old were you when you first became aware of your fear of it? How long did it take for you to decide to face it? Hours? Days? Months? Years? Decades? How many attempts did it take before you faced it head on? What was the outcome? #4 Honesty And Masculinity

When was the last time you lied? How often are you dishonest? How many lies have you told today? Your first instinct might be to think you haven’t told any lies, but that’s probably just another form of dishonesty, or, more specifically, lying to yourself. When was the last time you were lied to? Was it by someone you generally trust? Was it by someone who you expect to be dishonest with you? Did you even question it as it happened? Did you even notice? Why do so many men lie? In part two of my series on what I have identified as the seven principles of masculinity (knowledge, honesty, valor, integrity, vigor, utility, and command), I explore how honesty is a powerful principle of masculinity, and set forth how the pros of being an honest man far outweigh any perceived cons.

Masculinity Manifesto

Men around the world are responding to a call that is bigger than any one of us. Like a beast emerging from hibernation, our eyes are opening to the responsibilities and opportunities before us. We demand freedom from tyranny, and will stand up to anything that threatens our individual sovereignty. We choose to be men, and refuse to surrender our birthright. May those who desire to unite with our cause do so with a full commitment to the values outlined herein, that together we may stand as masculine men of principle. Why should men seek after knowledge? What does learning do for a man? Can a man be masculine and ignorant? How does obtaining knowledge increase one’s masculinity? Is there a downside to obtaining knowledge? How should a man go about increasing in his understanding of the world? What is the relationship between knowing and doing?
