Mind Ki Baat
NL Team This is the ninth episode of Mind ki Baat, a Newslaundry podcast with a neurodivergent host with a focus on the invisible epidemic of mental health issues in society today. In this episode, we discuss schizophrenia, a complex and severe mental disorder that affects how a person thinks, feels, behaves and perceives the world around them. It’s a chronic condition that requires continuous treatment and support, yet is often caricatured in pop culture. We speak to Amrit Kumar Bakhshy, a banker by profession who has been a caregiver to his daughter living with schizophrenia since the 1990s. He’s also the president of the Schizophrenia Awareness Association and serves on the institutional board of NIMHANS. We also speak to Dr Alok Kulkarni, a senior consultant psychiatrist at the Manas Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences in Hubli. Tune in!
