Mission 2 Zero Podcast
In this episode, I give an overview of the podcast and what it is and what it isn't. The intention of the podcast is to leverage everything I have learned on this journey to help others. Starting with my focus of study in PTSD and combat-related trauma to military suicide prevention. What I have experienced and learned working on the court in military mental health as a volunteer and from other survivors. I have researched trauma heavily since graduating and heard countless stories of veterans and their healing. What has helped them? Ultimately, I want people who represent veterans and our military in policy to have a good basis of information to make decisions that allow us to better serve our brothers and sisters in arms. We can no longer deny the impact of combat on mental health - nor can we continue to ignore or dismiss the role of suicide prevention in safety planning. Suicide is a community problem - not an individual problem. We have to unite as a community and share best practices to reduce suicide now. What better way to end our Memorial Day weekend with sharing the story of Senior Airman, Robert Graves. As we honor those who gave their life in service of our country, we remember and honor Robbie today. Robbie was a combat veteran who lost his battle with PTSD. In this interview, you will hear his mother, Andrina share some of his story and what she has learned about PTSD. The story is tragic, but telling. Hearing this story may be a catalyst to support someone in your life who is suffering from PTSD to get help. It may also clarify and answer some of the questions that you have.
