John Prine’s rendition of "My Old Kentucky Home, Goodnight" is a tender, deeply personal acoustic cover of the historic 19th-century American ballad. April 2020 following John Prine’s tragic passing from COVID-19 complications. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear used Prine's recording of "My Old Kentucky Home" as the official soundtrack for a statewide tribute video. Citizens across Kentucky lit their homes green in honor of Prine and the victims of the pandemic, turning his gentle cover into a powerful symbol of regional mourning and resilience. "Mellow Yellow" is one of Donovan's most famous and misinterpreted songs. I promised another popular theory: is that the title refers to Donovan’s bout with hepatitis in early 1966, which left him jaundiced. Ultimately, Donovan describes the song as being about his own "mellow" and laid-back demeanor, which he achieved through meditation rather than drugs.
