Descripción

In this installment of the Wisdom Keepers series, I am joined by Susan Jewkes Allen, founder of the Synthesis Center San Francisco, which is currently evolving into the Psychosynthesis Institute. Susan was a meaningful mentor during an important transition in my own life,  supporting me during the period when I was leaving my work as a guidance counselor and stepping into building my own business and body of work. Susan takes us on a journey through her lifelong attunement to the “inner life,” a sensitivity that began in childhood and led her through decades of exploring creativity, leadership, meaning-making, and transformation. Together, we explore the tension between sensing the mystical or transpersonal dimensions of life and the vital work of grounding those experiences into everyday living, relationship, and contribution. Susan shares the story of being “bitten by the psychosynthesis mosquito” and how discovering psychosynthesis gave language and structure to many of the questions, experiences, and dimensions of human life she had long been exploring. Over time, this path evolved into a deep commitment to teaching, collaboration, and helping bring psychosynthesis to future generations of practitioners and seekers. Susan Jewkes Allen is the founder of Synthesis Center San Francisco, now evolving into the Psychosynthesis Institute (Pi): Tools for Personal and Social Transformation. For more than three decades, her work has explored psychosynthesis and transpersonal psychology as pathways toward greater coherence, meaning, responsibility, and participation in the world. Drawing from psychosynthesis, depth psychology, contemplative practice, and lived experience, Susan’s approach holds the psyche as a living whole, inclusive of suffering and aspiration, instinct and imagination, will and relationship. She has a particular interest in creativity, purposeful life design, and supporting leaders and emerging leaders navigating significant life and professional transitions. Her work explores healing as a threshold into deeper purpose, presence, and contribution within both personal and collective life. Susan also writes Synthesis Muse, a reflective Substack exploring psychology as a living conversation through essays, practices, and inquiry grounded in both soul and everyday life. https://synthesismuse.substack.com/ [https://synthesismuse.substack.com/] Tune in to hear more.  Links:  Learn more about the Psychosynthesis Institute [https://psychosynthesisinstitute.com/] Learn more about how you can work with Sara [https://www.saravatore.com/] Connect with Sara on Facebook [https://www.facebook.com/expandyourcapacity] Follow Sara on Instagram [http://instagram.com/sara.vatore] Subscribe to Sara’s newsletter [https://dashboard.mailerlite.com/forms/361506/85092018122917412/share?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR04OlTRAPUHi8fDvjIFKQh0vPp9j1Yqapx3cstRhc2ZP-UsLf-7ddhHYTM_aem_X8-z0MZJwSZhUjc8gI9VIQ]

Wisdom Keepers: Dimensions of Dr. Alan Goldberg

In this special and deeply personal installment of the Wisdom Keepers series, I am joined by my father, Dr. Alan Goldberg, an internationally recognized pioneer in peak sports performance and mental toughness. Together, we explore the winding path of his life and work, from his early days on the tennis court to an unexpected shift from fisheries biology into counseling psychology and performance coaching. Our conversation traces the evolution of his work beyond traditional mental training and into a more multidimensional understanding of the nervous system, trauma, and the deeper roots of performance blocks. We also explore creativity, failure, legacy, and what it means to pass forward decades of wisdom as I step into leadership within the business he built. Dr. Alan Goldberg, Ed.D., SEP is the founder of Competitive Advantage LLC and has spent more than four decades helping athletes at every level—from youth competitors to professional athletes and Olympians—develop confidence, resilience, and the ability to perform under pressure. Known for his clarity, humor, and highly practical approach, Dr. G has helped countless athletes break through slumps, overcome fear-based blocks, and perform at their best when it matters most. Early in his career, he recognized that mindset training alone wasn’t enough for many athletes struggling with repetitive performance problems, and he went searching for something deeper. He became one of the first in his field to integrate nervous system science and body-based approaches into sports performance work, training in Brainspotting, EMDR and later Somatic Experiencing® to help athletes resolve repetitive performance problems at their root. Dr. Goldberg is the author of more than 35 books and training programs and has worked with NCAA championship teams, spoken at the Olympic Training Center, and presented at top coaching clinics worldwide. A first-degree black belt in Shorin-Ryu karate and grandfather of two, he continues to bring curiosity and depth to both his work and his life. episode Wisdom Keepers: Dimensions of Anne Yeomans artwork

Wisdom Keepers: Dimensions of Anne Yeomans

In this installment of the Wisdom Keepers series, I am joined by Anne Yeomans for a conversation that traces the quiet, guiding red thread that shapes a life of deep service and spiritual inquiry. Anne invites us beyond linear ways of understanding and into a more expansive relationship with the cosmos, sharing how an early moment of grace became an orienting force in her life and work. Together, we explore the alchemical interplay of grace, will, and desire and the profound, often countercultural act of turning inward in a world that prizes constant outward engagement. Anne speaks to the creation of sacred, sometimes unconventional spaces for women, and her years facilitating women’s circles in both the United States and Russia. We also touch into her unexpected relationship with poetry—how it began arriving rather than being pursued, and what it has meant to receive language in this way. Her life reflects a deep attunement to the intelligent, guiding force that emerges when we learn to listen. This conversation points us back to a place of inner balance, where we can reconnect with our own inherent wisdom. Anne Yeomans has been a psychotherapist for over 50 years. She has facilitated dialogue groups and sacred women’s circles for decades in both the US and Russia. She is the co-founder of The Women's Well, an organization devoted to the healing and empowerment of women and girls and the reclaiming of the sacred feminine. The Women’s Well offered programs in the Boston area from 1994 to 2012, centered around essential questions in women’s spirituality: What do women experience as sacred? How do they know it and honor it? How do they bring it forth? Anne is a poet and the author of the poetry collection We Used to Call Her Mother. She is also the editor of Willing to Love, in which she authored a chapter. A lifelong social activist, she is also a mother of two and a grandmother of five. Wisdom Keepers: Dimensions of Kenneth Sørenson

In this episode of the Wisdom Keepers series, I am joined by Kenneth Sørenson to navigate the intricate maps of the human psyche through the lens of Psychosynthesis. We dive in to explore how this living psychology can guide us as a steady compass along our spiritual path.  Kenneth shares how we can bridge the gap between our personal and transpersonal will, moving beyond our past conditioning to move through life with greater alignment and choice. It’s a conversation about the art of self-mastery and the quiet courage it takes to expand, just a little, every single day. Kenneth Sørensen is a psychotherapist, author, and teacher specializing in psychosynthesis and transpersonal psychology. He holds a Master’s degree in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy from the University of East London and has many years of experience working with personal and spiritual development in both clinical and educational settings. He is the founder of kennethsorensen.dk [http://kennethsorensen.dk/], an extensive online library dedicated to psychosynthesis, where he publishes and curates original writings by Roberto Assagioli alongside his own articles and contemporary contributions to the field. His work is characterized by a strong emphasis on scholarly rigor, source-based research, and the integration of psychological and spiritual perspectives. Kenneth is actively involved in the international psychosynthesis community, serving on the steering committees of both the Association for the Advancement of Psychosynthesis and the Synthesis Community. He is also engaged in an ongoing biographical research project on Assagioli, drawing on archival material to present a historically grounded and nuanced account of the founder’s life and work. Through his writing, teaching, and public speaking, Kenneth seeks to advance psychosynthesis as a living, evolving psychology relevant to both individual transformation and wider cultural development.
