I think a lot of people haven’t heard my full story—maybeyou’ve only heard bits and pieces. So today, on my new podcast, I’m talkingabout something I’ve carried for a long time: that I was sexually assaulted. Before we begin, I want to share a quick content warning:this episode includes discussion of sexual assault and trauma. Please take careof yourself—pause, step away, or skip this episode if you need to. For a long time, I didn’t say anything. I didn’t tellanyone. And part of the reason is hard to admit I didn’t fully understand thatwhat happened to me was wrong. I didn’t have the words for it, and I didn’tknow I was allowed to name it. I’m sharing this now because I know I’m not the only onewho’s felt confused, ashamed, or unsure of whether what happened “counts.” Ifyou’ve ever questioned your own experience, I want you to know you’re notalone—and you deserve support. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and this feels likethe right time to speak honestly—to bring what’s been in the dark into thelight. Thank you for being here with me. If you choose to keep listening, we’lltake this one step at a time.
