A griot is a storyteller that passes down oral history; a living archive of people's traditions. In order to progress we must learn and accept our history. My mother is the last reliable narrator of my family's history and I intend to create a record of that story. We discuss my father's death, the ensuing fallout, and what led to the situation overall. This isn't intended to be a smear campaign but just an effort to portray the facts objectively while also humanizing my mother.
