Divorce Stigmas and the Power of Reframing

No matter who you are, we would bet money you’ve heard of, held for others, or had stigmas regarding divorce. Stigmas are everywhere; for divorcees, single parents, for people who have been remarried. These stigmas find their ways into our lives from movies, tv shows, and our friends and family.  In today's episode, we dive into the stigmas we held prior, how our view of them has shifted as we’ve gained deeper understanding, and how our pity has turned to empathy. We've learned that stigmas literally end up holding us back so it’s time we talk about them so we can break the hold they can have on us! There is power in reframing your narratives and in this episode, we share how we've reframed our own stories to find comfort, grace, and new outlooks on life! Be sure to subscribe + leave a review!

Navigating The Holidays, Divorced

Hello everyone and happy holidays! Whether you are celebrating or not this year, the truth is that holidays can be hard for everyone even if divorce isn’t a part of the conversation. Exactly. So that’s the conversation we are having today. Here is an outline of what to expect: 1. First Holiday - Separated v. Divorced * Brief stories of our first Christmas post-divorce/separation 1. Missed Traditions and/or Family * Relationship with inlaws * Having someone there to complain with, to emotionally share the load, to joke with, to get + eat food with, just that transition from being a couple to not, family/couple photos * Being “single” at your own family’s gatherings * Seeing other “we’s” online enjoying their traditions, not always being what it seems is what i remind myself, christmas light viewings, christmas movie snuggles, etc 3. Holidays with and without the kids * Splitting time -- Date on a Calendar v. Celebration of Day * Brief stories about first holiday without OUR kids * Talking to kids about split time * Communicating with ex about gifts/traditions 4. Embracing/Enduring the grief cycle Be sure to subscribe + leave a review!
