I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Sharon Rangel to the Nurse Leader Debrief!!! Sharon is an accomplished nurse leader who has served in leadership roles within acute care, specialty care, and with professional associations as well! Sharon has some great experience for our listeners to learn from including those within the advocacy space, policy creation, and professional development!! Sharon currently serves as the Associate Chief Nursing Officer at the world-renowned Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, located in Chicago, has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the best acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital in the country for an unprecedented 34 consecutive years. Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is a four-time ANCC Magnet facility and in pursuit of a fifth redesignation. As the Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Sharon oversees all the inpatient nursing units as well as the flex department, lab, and house supervisors. Sharon has been a nurse for over thirty years, twenty-four in leadership roles. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Saint Xavier University and earned her MSN, MBA, and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Lewis University. Sharon is Certified in Executive Nursing Practice. In 2024, she received the impressive designation of Fellow of the American Organization of Nurse Leaders. Finally, Sharon is a Dr. Jean Watson Caritas Coach, which promotes healthy practice environments to engage nurses and support resilience and well-being. Sharon is currently one of the co-chairs of the Illinois Healthcare Action Coalition. She is Past-President of the Illinois Organization of Nurse Leaders and an active member of the American Organization of Nurse Leaders, and faculty for Developing the Leader Within program. Sharon was previously elected to the ANA Congress on Nursing Practice and Economics. Sharon is proud to be the only nurse who sat on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority. She is a past President of the Lewis University Alumni Association Board of Directors and spearheaded the Lewis University Nursing Alumni Network. She is a recipient of the Lewis University Alumni Achievement Award in 2009. Sharon was also awarded IONL’s Most Valuable Member in 2017. Dr. Sharon Rangel...it's time for your debrief!
