Part 1 of my interview with former Buddhist monastics Willa Thaniya Reid and Elizabeth Day, two incredible Dhamma teachers from the Ajahn Chah lineage of the Thai Forest Tradition. Their approach to meditation practice is one that I found to be very effective. Enjoy the interview! From The Hippie Trail to The Noble Eightfold Path w/ Bhante Rahula | Playing With Perception

Part 1 of my interview with Bhante Yogavacara Rahula, a Buddhist monk with both a unique background (an army recruit turned hippie turned monk) and a unique practice (a blend of yoga and Theravada).Bhante Rahula was born in Southern California in 1948. After following the hippie trail to India, he eventually discovered Theravada Buddhism in Sri Lanka, where he ordained as a novice monk in 1975. He received his bhikkhu upasampada ordination at Wat Thai Los Angeles in May 1979.After returning to Sri Lanka for some years, he came to help Bhante Henepola Gunaratana (“Bhante G”) establish the Bhavana Society Forest Monastery, where he served as vice-abbot from 1986 to 2010. Now, after many years of teaching Dhamma and leading retreats around the world, Bhante Rahula has taken on the role as managing director and chief meditation teacher at the Lion of Wisdom – Paññāsīha Meditation Center.Enjoy the interview!Learn about Bhante Rahula’s Meditation Center, Lion of Wisdom here: https://www.lionwisdom.org/Donations [https://www.lionwisdom.org/Donations] to Lion of Wisdom can be made here: https://www.lionwisdom.org/support/Bhante [https://www.lionwisdom.org/support/Bhante] Rahula has written several books, listed here: https://www.lionwisdom.org/our-founders/ [https://www.lionwisdom.org/our-founders/]Check out our free resources at www.MeditateWithRanga.com [http://www.MeditateWithRanga.com] :)#podcast #meditation #mentalhealth #mental #mentalhealthawareness #podcasts #podcasting #talk #help #selfcare #selfimprovement #selfhelp #dhamma #buddhism

The Ethereal, Indefinable, Transmissive Quality of Zen w/ Liz Farmer Part 1 | Playing With Perception

Liz Farmer is a Harvard educated Buddhist chaplain and meditation teacher based in Maine, USA. She is a lay teacher of Zen under the guidance of Roshi Joan Halifax. Like Roshi Joan, Liz has a strong penchant towards social justice. This connection between Dharma and social action is part of what makes Liz such a compelling figure for me. Liz is living proof that a love of Dharma doesn’t take you away from the world or from the suffering of others, it rather sets the conditions for compassion to flow into the world of practical matters, uncontrived and unhindered. Liz is also the founder of the Portland Dharma House, a place of residence and refuge for local practitioners across various transitions, and she sits on the board of the Spiritual Care Services of Maine. Enjoy the interview!
