Descripción

Indiana has some very fair gun laws compared to other states, however our laws are not so black and white as people would like to believe. Self defense & instances of shootings are treated on a case-by-case basis, and today we go into the nuances of such while also talking about the Whitestown wrong-home shooting in Boone County that resulted in the death of Ríos Pérez, a house cleaner who arrived at the wrong home for work & was shot through the front door while attempting to type in the code to enter.

Elkhart's Wolverines: When Protectors Become Predators

Elkhart, Indiana — a city of nearly 60,000 residents, with Black citizens making up just 12% of the population — ranks fifth in the nation for exonerations per capita. Since 2006, six men have been wrongfully convicted and later exonerated in Elkhart; four of them were Black. At the center of these cases is a group of corrupt, abusive police officers known by some as the “Wolverines.” Instead of serving and protecting, they used their power to intimidate, fabricate, and destroy lives — leaving behind a trail of injustice and millions in legal settlements. In this episode, we dive into The IndyStar’s explosive exposé, name the officers accused of misconduct, and share the powerful stories of those they hurt — and those who witnessed it all.
