Pray the Word - Psalm 18:7-15

Psalm 18:7–15 gives us one of the most powerful pictures of God’s response to the cries of His people. The earth quakes, the heavens shake, smoke and fire mark His presence, and darkness covers Him as He moves to save. In this episode, we reflect on what it means that God is not passive toward our pain—He rises with fierce love and unstoppable power. And we see how this storm points to Jesus, who bore the wrath of God at the cross so that we could stand safe in His love.

Psalm 18 begins with a confession of love: “I love you, O Lord, my strength.” David names God as his rock, fortress, and deliverer—not as abstract titles, but as realities he clung to when the cords of death wrapped around him.
