Old White Birders

This episode contains a bit of a rant about colonial culture in birding, old white birders and how their culture often excludes birders from marginalized groups, and a discussion of why and how we need to have conversations about racism, misogyny, anti-LGBTQ, and how to respect birds all the time in all bird groups. There's also some birding at Malheur National Wildlife Refuge headquarters and a discussion about dancing birds and how cool northern shovelers are. Bird List: Gadwall, Tundra Swan, Mallard, Northern Shoveler, Cinnamon Teal, Green-winged Teal, Bufflehead, Ruddy Duck, Lesser Scaup, Ring-necked Duck, American Wigeon, Canvasback, Blue-winged Teal x Northern Shoveler Hybrid (so handsome), Double-crested Cormorant, Great Blue Heron, Red-winged Blackbird, Yellow-headed Blackbird, Downy Woodpeckers, Red-naped Sapsucker, Sandhill Crane, Bushtit, White-crowned Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Marsh Wren, Great-Horned Owl (nest), Red-tailed Hawk (nest), American Kestrel, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Mountain Chickadee, Brown-headed Cowbird, European Starling, Lincoln Sparrow, Dunlin, Long-billed Dowitcher, House Sparrow, American Goldfinch, Lesser Goldfinch, Tree Swallow, Cliff Swallow, Fox Sparrow, Spotted Towhee, Dark-eyed Junco....perhaps others. I guess I should have written them down.
