Descripción

Introduction to the "Shorter Logic" | In the debut episode of Reading Room, Brian & Andrew take a step into Hegel's dialectics, discussing the introduction to Encylopedia of the Philosophical Sciences. We're gearing up to compare his system to the ever-defiant and dancing "gay science"/"joyous wisdom" of Friedrich Nietzsche. Over the course of the show, we'll dip into philosophy, movies, literature, and more! Reading Room Ep.3 | Moeller & D'Ambrosio's "You & Your Profile" In the third episode of the Reading Room podcast, Andrew and Brian take a step into an enticing theory of "modes of identity" - from sincerity to authenticity and now profilicity. You may recognize Moeller's name from his channel "Carefree Wandering." We relate it to Hegel's dialectic and Marx's application/inversion of Hegel in the historical materialist tradition, where human history is seen as moving in modes of production, great bundles of tensions which gradually convulse/unfold into the next "mode" which remains birthmarked by the old (sublation - see episode one). Moeller seems to evoke a similar narrative regarding how "modes of identity" develop, perhaps informed by political, social, and technological orders. This is our first step into Moeller & D'Ambrosio's book. We'll continue the conversation in future episodes.
