Descripción

Gravewake is behind them… but curses don’t always stay where you leave them. With Borrik the dwarven miner rescued and the river pulling them ever closer to Valkaar, the Outworlders and Captain Quinn press on down the Wyrmstooth toward answers, or something far worse. Because something is watching. The Tanari is patient. It doesn’t chase. It waits. And for Quinn, the past he thought he escaped is finally catching up. The scars, the loss, the thing that took everything from him... it’s not done yet. As Quinn steels himself for revenge… the beast prepares to finish what it started. Some things you can’t outrun. And some things… follow you downstream.

The Road to the Season One Finale

After 10 months of adventures, betrayals, Void corruption, and impossible odds, the Outworlders are finally nearing the end of their journey through Season One of Roll4Real. In this special update episode, I talk a bit about the production of the show, the road to the Season One finale, and reveal what listeners can expect in the months ahead. From our upcoming seasonal break and the launch of our Patreon, to chaotic one-shots and brand new exclusive content, there’s a lot coming for the world of Roll4Real. I also dive into listener questions surrounding some of the biggest mysteries in the series so far, including Andrew’s increasingly dark path, the terrifying truth behind Shaunus’ growing powers, Grant’s mysterious Golden Werewolf transformation, and the looming importance of the other missing Outworlders still trapped somewhere in Zumundo. The episode also teases Return to Zumundo, our upcoming Call of Cthulhu miniseries set back in the real world after the DragonCon incident, where cosmic horror, conspiracies, and hidden forces begin to reveal the true scale of what’s happening beyond the veil. And finally, I preview the massive two-part Season One finale: an epic battle years in the making that will feature guest performers, huge revelations, and consequences that will shape the future of Roll4Real moving into Season Two. The end of Season One is almost here… and the story is only getting bigger.

Captain Rhys Quinn: From Parody to Presence

In this special bonus-content episode of Roll4Real, Doolin sits down one-on-one with Mike to discuss the unexpected rise of one of Season 1’s most unforgettable characters: Captain Rhys Quinn. Originally introduced as little more than a passing joke, a deliberate parody inspired by Captain Quint from Jaws as the Outworlders journeyed down the dangerous Wyrmstooth River while hunted by the terrifying river beast known as The Tanari,  Rhys Quinn was never intended to leave an impact on the story. He was designed to fill a role for a few sessions and disappear into the background of the story. Instead, something unexpected happened. Through improvisation, character chemistry, and the natural evolution that only tabletop storytelling can create, Quinn transformed from a throwaway NPC into one of the emotional cornerstones of the season. What began as a humorous homage slowly unfolded into a layered character with a tragic history deeply intertwined with the ancient lore of Zumundo itself. Doolin and Mike explore how necessity at the table forced the story to adapt in real time, ultimately creating one of the richest narrative threads of Season One. The episode dives into the behind-the-scenes decisions that expanded Quinn’s role, the collaborative storytelling that shaped his arc, and the performance moments that elevated him to a hero whose choices permanently altered the course of the campaign. From parody… to presence. This is the story behind Captain Rhys Quinn.

Episode 22: All Debts Come Due (Part 2)

The Outworlders have finally reached the legendary dwarven city of stone and fire, Valkaar. But their journey is far from over. Beyond its towering forges and iron gates lies the next ascent: the climb toward Mount Vel’Drahn, where they hope to uncover a path back home. Yet the air has grown heavier. Something unseen is closing in. The forces of the Void are moving... And they are not coming slowly.  Andrew now stands at the center of an impossible choice: one debt, long promised, now demanded in full. He can collect on what is owed… or refuse, and risk Shaunus becoming the price instead. Meanwhile, Captain Quinn must come to terms with the truth and make a choice of his own.  What once was trust is beginning to fracture. What once was clarity is now shadowed by suspicion, duty, and survival. The road to the light was always paved in darkness.

Episode 21: All Debts Come Due

Episode 21: All Debts Come Due Under the cold glow of moonlight, the Wyrmstooth River becomes a battlefield. After days of silent pursuit, the Tanari finally strikes... its presence erupting from the darkness and forcing the Outworlders into a desperate fight for survival. With nowhere to run and the river hemming them in, steel, spell, and instinct are pushed to their limits as the crew struggles to hold the line against a relentless, otherworldly threat. As the battle rages, Captain Quinn is forced to confront the weight of his past and the debts he can no longer outrun. And in the chaos, little Shaunus, the lone survivor of Maplewood, reveals a power no one expected… and no one fully understands. What begins as a fight for survival may leave far deeper scars, as the line between salvation and something far more dangerous begins to blur.
