Colorism and Generational Trauma

TW: Mentions of war In this episode, we dive a little deeper into our experiences with racism, including colorism. We also talk about our fathers' experiences of escaping the Vietnam War, and how it may have impacted them and how that traumatic experience was passed down onto us, which will then pass down onto the next generation. We see this type of generational trauma dating back to the Civil Rights Movement, and give our theories on why it isn't getting any better.

Chinatown vs 76ers

This episode, joined by our friend as a guest speaker, we talk about the plans for the new 76ers stadium and its potential affects on Philadelphia's Chinatown. We also talk about Chinatown's 150 year history and how it came to be, the struggles it had to go through to stay standing, and what it means to us.

Our Experiences with Racism

TW: Racism, bullying, and mentions of sexual assault/harassment In this episode, we talk about our personal experiences with racism and bullying we faced in school, including our experiences with yellow fever. We also touch on some stereotypes that was forced onto us by others around us due to being female Asian-Americans. Sorry in advanced for the sound quality - we recorded this in front of the AC. It was hard to remove the sound without fully destroying the rest of the audio.

Bad Eyes and Construction at Work

In our first episode, we talk about how we noticed that among all our Asian-American peers, either all or most of them need glasses or contacts - including ourselves, and the tests we've undergone for our eyes. We also talk about my LASIK procedure experience for anyone considering LASIK to fix their eyes (neither of us work in the medical field, so don't take what we say about our personal medical experiences and apply it to yourself). Then we wrap up the podcast talking about the construction that's happening/potentially going to happen at our respective jobs.
