Reflection: safety in rest ( Yordi)
something that we don't talk enough about is how much as black bodied people we are carrying a lot unprocessed trauma, and are constantly running around without support or rest. I did the unspeakable for community organizer in the last 2 weeks, I did nothing. I slept, I ate and I answered no emails. Rest is resistance and it's embodied in safety. " I feared that an invitation to rest in these precarious times would feel hollow, disingenuous, insufficient. Worried that the suggestion of rest, self and community care would be woefully inadequate to meet the unrelenting demands of this time."
safety in relationships ( Rox)
safety in stewardship ( Divine)
In this storytelling session, Yordi and Divine talk about the importance of self acceptance, community and stewardship to build safety for yourself and others!
safety in interdiasporic conversations (Kai)
In this session, Kai and Yordi talk about the importance of inter-diasporic dialogue, staying in the lane the best that feeds your soul and liberation work and what it means to be in the in between place. Kai is the current Equitable Development Director at West Side Community Organization in St Paul and is a practitioner of emancipator practices with the lens of urban design, place making and equitable development.
quick pause: storytelling should be messy
In this week's session, Yordi reflects on how storytelling is not something to be designed - and set stages for, but somehow we still have to do that.
