Today is a special day for the Say it Here Podcast, because it’s the last episode of Season 1! Judi and Corie are finishing off the season with a heartwarming episode that explains how they met as teenagers, the unique community they share and the emotional connection they found while navigating  complex feelings around family expectations. It was actually through reading that novel the Judi reconnected with Corie about the Syrian community’s culture, the pressure to fit in, and the personal growth that comes from navigating a unique path that goes outside the norm. She offers a new look at parenting young children by emphasizing connection, curiosity, clear limits, consistent follow-through, and skill-teaching (often after everyone calms down). Devon also warns against both authoritarian obedience-first parenting and overcorrecting into giving kids too much power in their relationships with their parents.
