They Cut the Feed

Louisiana's legislature held hearings until 4:30 IN THE MORNING to ram through redistricting maps that gut Black voting power — and Michelle was there for basically all of it. Ellie was not, because she's been on a journey of self-discovery and starting a new firm, which she hates talking about but talked about anyway. This week: a racist senator yells "shut up" at a room full of constituents, a committee chair cuts the live feed mid-questioning (twice), a senator gets forced off a committee for having the audacity to ask a pointed question, and the state's Attorney General threatens to remove city council members because she... can? Apparently? We're not sure she actually can. Also: the Epstein files resolution somehow passed the Louisiana Senate unanimously, a YouGov poll confirms Republican men are terrified of an elderly man in obvious cognitive decline, the Supreme Court does one procedurally reasonable thing on mifepristone, and we ponder whether Roberts is the worst Chief Justice in history. Hundreds of people came to the Capitol to testify.
