Whose Seizure is it anyway?

This podcast story, Whose seizure is it anyway? has been on Emma's mind for some time... well... actually since she was eleven and had her first seizure. Emma, along with co-presenters Jeannette and Oscar, all have lived experience with seizures and they take us on an audio journey that explores Epilepsy and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) through poetry, history, humour and insight. And their stories make you wonder where the real disorder lies. Listener Advisory This episode mentions suicide and the mistreatment of people with medical conditions. episode Dalia Stefanie artwork

Dalia Stefanie

She was 16 when she discovered that her real name was not Stefanie. Stefanie was her middle name. Her first name was Dalia. And now, in her 70's, Dalia has reclaimed her birth name. Dalia was inspired to tell her story by young women like Australian of the Year - Grace Tame who made it clear that they would not be silent about sexual abuse. Dalia's story telling offers insight into the beliefs, assumptions and societal shifts that have shaped attitudes towards abuse and trauma since the 1950's. The stories in this episode are: 1. That Electricity: about frenemies and Tae Kwan Doh 2. Gettin' on the Radio: Local ABC Radio host Lindsay McDougal got some of our crew on to his Drive program to talk about our podcasts, so we decided to return the favour and pop him in our show 3. Billy Cart Champion: about a girl who decides to go in the Billy Cart Derby. She wants to win... sure... but she also has some other reasons to go in the race... 4. Good Game/Bad Game: where we talk about video games 5. Hidden Harvest: where we find out about an organisation that runs activities focused on food, people and the environment 6. One of the Team: about the beautiful things that can happen when people keep others in mind...
