Shifting Happens
In a thrilling display of dominance at the historic Temple of Speed, Max Verstappen clinched victory at the 2025 Italian Grand Prix in Monza. From pole position, Verstappen launched cleanly and immediately built a gap, showcasing Red Bull’s superior race pace. The Dutch driver managed tire strategy perfectly and never looked threatened, even through safety car periods and mid-race pit windows. But behind the leader, drama unfolded—particularly at McLaren. Lando Norris was running comfortably in P2 early on, only to suffer a slightly delayed pit stop that cost him valuable track position. Teammate Oscar Piastri, found himself ahead of Norris on track. The McLaren pit wall quickly intervened, instructing Piastri to let Norris through, a decision framed as restoring the “natural order” prior to the pit stop shuffle. Piastri complied without resistance, and Norris went on to finish second, with Piastri settling for third—securing a double podium for the papaya team.
