Descripción

We’re THROWING back to 1996.  Superstar baseball player Ken Griffey Jr. ran for president of the United States against the incumbent Bill Clinton as a Nike marketing stunt during the actual ‘96 election year.  We talk with Major League Baseball, a die-hard Griffey fan, and Nike’s creative director to analyze the campaign and get the inside scoop. Things got so heated on the campaign trail that Phil Knight had to step in. Would this campaign concept even be pitched today? Is our political environment too divisive in 2024? What would Biden or Trump’s stance be on Nike poking fun at the political process with a heroic, superstar candidate? It might have a lot to say about advertising and politics today. ShowUp is hosted by Leigh Lepore and Jameson Pitts, and is a production of Mintr Marketing and Sangfroid Marketing Studio. The show is mixed by Justin Newton of Jay Song Studio. From C-Suite to Cell Block: Why Good Execs Go Bad

We’re cooking the books and stirring up crooks. Dang, we feel shook!  This episode, we investigate the fine line between profit and prison for three jaw-dropping cases of corporate fraud and white-collar crime. Why do so many tech entrepreneurs go bad, and run afoul of their customers or the SEC? To get to the bottom of it, we went to the top – we talk to a tech CEO just out of prison for lying to investors as well as THE WHISTLEBLOWER responsible for shutting down the biggest health tech fraud of our time, and critical in sending a certain infamous female CEO to prison. If that wasn’t enough, our very own cohost was almost caught destroying evidence.  ShowUp is hosted by Leigh Lepore and Jameson Pitts, and is a production of Mintr Marketing and Sangfroid Marketing Studio. The show is mixed by Justin Newton of Jay Song Studio. Check out our website and subscribe to our newsletter at the links below:  showup-podcast.com  mintrmarketing.com  sangfroidstudio.com

No More Big Macs, Putin

Divestiture? I hardly know ‘er!  In this episode, we explore the phenomenon of Western corporations publicly withdrawing from countries with human rights violations. Do companies like Starbucks and McDonald's actually forego profits, or are their actions merely PR stunts? And if they do withdraw, does it have any real impact on the target country (e.g., Mother Russia)? We talk with global economics experts and recruit a secret Russian source to get to the bottom of it.
