Staying Grounded
Let’s be honest… tango can get awkward. 😬 In this episode, we tackle one of the most uncomfortable (and unavoidable) parts of social dancing: what do you do when something about your partner is… off? Whether it’s hygiene, breath, physical discomfort, or just behavior that doesn’t sit right—do you say something, or just quietly avoid them forever? We explore the gray area between kindness, honesty, and self-preservation, and why this topic is so tricky in a close-embrace dance like tango. Because sometimes it’s accidental, sometimes it’s fixable… and sometimes it’s just not your conversation to have. In this conversation, we cover: * When (and if) it’s appropriate to say something * The difference between awareness vs. responsibility in a shared space * How to handle physical discomfort (pain, tension, unsafe movement) * Why practicas might be the right place for these conversations * Subtle ways to communicate without creating tension * And when it’s okay to simply… not dance again We don’t pretend to have perfect answers—but we do believe this: tango works best when we’re thoughtful, self-aware, and just a little bit brave in how we show up for each other. 💬 Have you ever been in an awkward tango situation? Did you say something—or stay silent?
