Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2111713/fan_mail/new] I met Jeff Power at a songwriters' event in Denver.   He was accompanied by 3 other songwriters who were performing their music together - they were good, and watching Jeff, by far the oldest of the bunch, was inspiring!  You know from past episodes of Stubbornly Young that I'm contemplating what my life will be like when I step aside from a full-time career.  I want to do something creative and fun, and earn some money doing it to keep the financial wheels greased.  Jeff Power is a minister turned philanthropy leader, who in retirement has become a passionately active country music songwriter.  You'll love Jeff's upbeat energy, and if you are curious about the songwriter's role in the music scene, you'll appreciate hearing what Jeff has learned, and more about his journey pursuing a new passion in retirement.  Has he written a hit yet?  Listen to find out.   Read my Blog [https://stubbornlyyoung.com/my-rules-for-being-stubbornly-young/] called Rules For Being Stubbornly Young and let me know what you think!  Email your thoughts at dave@stubbornlyyoung.com [dave@stubbornlyyoung.com]   Check out where it’s all happening on the Stubbornly Young website [https://stubbornlyyoung.com/]  Thanks and looking forward to hearing how you’re remaining stubbornly young!

How to Transfer Your Wisdom

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2111713/fan_mail/new] I've always wondered if it's possible for me to transfer my head FULL of wisdom to, well, optimally, my sons - and if not them, to ANYONE!  Thinking back, as a much younger man did I absorb wisdom from others?  Ed McCarthy, author of Life Letters (Book 1 - 2 and 3 to follow) describes the lack of wisdom transfer as a sad loss of the most valuable resource.  After a near death experience he described in Life Letters, he decided to try to FIX this problem.  Ed designed the Wisdom Transfer Platform to do just that - and to let you and me do it too.  This is a very thoughtful conversation - you'll enjoy learning more about "wisdom transfer" and it will give you ideas about how to approach that in your own life. Synopsis:  Ed McCarthy, author of "Life Letters: Five Decisions to Wealth, Wisdom, and Happiness," discusses his journey from CEO of software companies to real estate entrepreneur and accidental author. His book, inspired by his children, aims to transfer wisdom across generations through the Wisdom Transfer Platform. McCarthy emphasizes the importance of storytelling over preaching to convey wisdom effectively. He highlights the significance of gratitude, accountability, and decision-making, sharing personal anecdotes like his encounter with Gary Hart to illustrate life lessons. The platform encourages users to share their wisdom, fostering a community of lifelong learners. Retirement, Rebranded for You and Me

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2111713/fan_mail/new] At first I didn't want to do this interview because for I’ve got a strong impression of AARP - that it's for for VERY OLD PEOPLE, and associated closely with the same audience as those pictured in ads for the "I've fallen and I can't get up," alert device.  I understand that will probably be me at some point, but not now.  The Stubbornly Young are anything but that stereotyped image.   So, yes, I was hesitant.  And more than hesitant, I’m CURIOUS – which IS a critical trait for being Stubbornly Young.  I wondered how AARP is managing its brand now that so many retired people are living another 30, even 40 years, with the first 20 or more still NOT the audience AARP branded to reach when it started.  I had tons of questions about that, and then, what we can LEARN and how we can benefit from the AARP (beyond discounts).

Supersonic Travel Coming Soon to You

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2111713/fan_mail/new] Listeners may know that for over 5 years I've been hosting ProCO360, a podcast featuring world-class Colorado entrepreneurs.  Recently I interviewed three such entrepreneurs in front of a live audience as part of a Denver Ventures conference.   Blake Scholl, Founder and CEO of Boom Supersonic, was one of those interviewed and even as I was engaged in our conversation, I thought of you - the Stubbornly Young.  Blake is one of the most amazing of the hundreds of CEOs I've met - the way he sees challenges and innovation is inspiring.  Led by BOOM, supersonic flight is coming back and this interview will be top of mind when you begin hearing more and more about it.  You'll say, "I heard that guy!"  Thanks to Denver Ventures and to Blake Scholl for their permission to repurpose our conversation for Stubbornly Young. Surprises in the PICKLEBALL Phenomenon

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2111713/fan_mail/new] In this episode of Stubbornly Young we’re going to focus on the surprises inside the phenomenon of pickleball.  Of course, you know pickleball is EVERYWHERE, and my guess is that at least HALF of you (LIKE ME) play pickleball either casually – or like an addiction.  Let’s learn more about what’s going on in this world of reportedly more than 14 MILLION players!  I’m fascinated with the growth of the sport, wondering whether it's a FAD or here to stay – and curious about the uniquely cross-generational opportunities pickleball presents.  Some of the answers to my questions were surprising!
