Crucified, Dead, Buried | The Apostles' Creed
John19:1-11
We Believe
In Luke 1:26-38, often called the Annunciation, the angel Gabriel is sent by God to the village of Nazareth to visit Mary, a young virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph. Gabriel greets her as "highly favored" and reveals that she will miraculously conceive a son to be named Jesus, who will be the Son of the Most High and inherit the eternal throne of David. When Mary asks how this is possible, Gabriel explains that the Holy Spirit will overshadow her, affirming that "nothing will be impossible with God." In a profound act of faith and humility, Mary identifies herself as the Lord's servant and submits completely to God’s plan, saying, "Let it be to me according to your word."
We Believe in Jesus Christ
John 1:14–18 describes the Incarnation, where the eternal "Word" became flesh and lived among humanity as Jesus Christ, revealing God's fullness of grace and truth. John the Baptist testifies to Christ’s preexistence and superiority, noting that while the Law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus. The passage concludes by asserting that while no one has seen God, Jesus—being God Himself—has perfectly revealed the Father to the world.
We Believe in God | The Apostles' Creed
In Romans 10:9–11, Paul declares that salvation is found through the simple combination of confessing with the mouth that "Jesus is Lord" and believing in the heart that God raised Him from the dead. This internal faith leads to justification, while the outward confession confirms salvation. Paul concludes that anyone—without exception—who places their trust in Him will never be put to shame.
