Descripción

It's not the long nights performing for weeks on end, it's not the struggles of finding accommodation in an incredibly busy city, and it's not trying to stand out amongst countless other performers who are all fighting for the same audience. For Annie Boyle, the hardest thing about the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the flyering. And I can't say I disagree! Not that I've ever been. Comedian Annie Boyle joined me on Sydney Tonight this week and we covered a lot of ground. From the name of the doctor who delivered her when she was born, the boundary she has had to set with her father after she was left with nowhere to sit in her own home, and how she accidentally came out to her family during a comedy show. So what are you waiting for?! Get stuck in to this week's bonus episode of Sydney Tonight! Sydney Tonight is the talk show our city has been crying out for! Covering the good, the bad, and the ugly, this show proves that despite it all, Sydney is the best city in the world. So whether you’re in Chatswood or Cherrybrook, Blacktown or Bankstown, Parramatta or Penrith- ring in each weekend with Sydney Tonight. episode Ep 17- Is Vivid In Its Flop Era? With Annie Boyle artwork

Ep 17- Is Vivid In Its Flop Era? With Annie Boyle

The festival that lights up Sydney every winter has been drawing more and more criticism of late, with the latest debacle following the malfunctioned drone show that saw 90 drones fall into the harbour. So are the rumours true? Is Vivid actually washed? Nathan Roach thinks so, and he joins me on the show this week to explain why. Alongside Mark Williamson, the three of us attempt to come up with some solutions to bring Vivid back to it's prime. But are they viable? And whose idea will Nathan like better?! Also on the show is comedian Annie Boyle [https://www.instagram.com/annieboyle_/]! Annie has been performing stand up around the country for many years now, but has far more strings to her bow than that! A graduate of NIDA she has some proper acting chops, which she was able to show off in a few episodes of Colin From Accounts. Annie joined me in the Sydney Tonight studios to talk about her time studying under one of her heroes: Sonia from McLeod's Daughters, as well as what life was like growing up in the small town of Henty in regional NSW. And finally, with the Sydney Film Festival all but upon us I put movies under the microscope this week by testing how realistic their plots are. Specifically, the classic movie troupe where one person tries to be in two places at once! You sometimes see in movies and sitcoms a character inviting two different people to the same place and having to continuously switch between them without either getting suspicious. So this week on the show, I tried to do exactly that. Did I succeed though? Or are movies actually onto something? You'll have to listen to find out. Sydney Tonight is the talk show our city has been crying out for! Covering the good, the bad, and the ugly, this show proves that despite it all, Sydney is the best city in the world. BONUS- Where Did Keli Holiday Learn To Dance?

It's a move that's become synonymous with the Hottest 100 runner up, but where did he get the inspiration from? The answer to that question and others can be found within this special bonus episode of Sydney Tonight! Keli Holiday AKA Adam Hyde of Peking Duk joined me on Sydney Tonight this week and shared some stories of his life as a musician touring in South Korea, his best hair care secrets, and why he still feels like a bit of an outcast despite all his success. Sydney Tonight is the talk show our city has been crying out for! Covering the good, the bad, and the ugly, this show proves that despite it all, Sydney is the best city in the world. Ep 16- Can I Make A Vape From Scratch? With Keli Holiday

In what is the biggest show in Sydney Tonight's storied history, I am going to attempt to solve the vaping crisis(?) with one simple invention. Can I create the world's first ever healthy vape? Alone, probably not. But with the help of comedians Ben Hunter [https://www.instagram.com/bnhntr/?hl=en] and Jordan Sharp [https://www.instagram.com/jordansharp/], I might just stand a chance... As well as hearing three people expertly toe the line of broadcasting standards in this episode, you will also be treated with the gruff and soulful voice of Keli Holiday [https://www.instagram.com/keliholiday/?hl=en]! The man responsible for Dancing2, the song that came second in this year's Triple J's Hottest 100, was kind enough to join me on the show amidst a packed schedule of touring. We chat about his infamous dance moves, his hair care routine, and relive the first ever international show he performed as part of Peking Duk [https://www.instagram.com/pekingduk/?hl=en]! And finally, the walls hung heavy around Casa Sydney Tonight this week as we had to farwell foundation member of the team, Annabelle Moore. Annabelle has found herself a "real job" as a news presenter in Dubbo, so to see her off I put her to the test with a Sydney news quiz that you can play along with as well! Sydney Tonight is the talk show our city has been crying out for! Covering the good, the bad, and the ugly, this show proves that despite it all, Sydney is the best city in the world. BONUS- What Do They Call HSP's In New Zealand? With David Correos

After taking a little trip across the ditch recently, I was shocked to discover that the Halal Snack Pack is known by another name in Aotearoa New Zealand. To help explain that (and several other cultural differences between our nations), comedian David Correos kindly joined me in the Sydney Tonight studios! David is one of the most exciting and unpredictable comedians not just in New Zealand, but almost definitely the Southern Hemisphere. If you've ever seen him perform before then you'll know that it's impossible to see where his shows will go, and that is what people keep coming back for! He'll be touring the Edinburgh Fringe Festival later this year so if you feel like heading over to Scotland for some comedy then I can't recommend him enough. Otherwise David is always floating around Sydney from time to time and is easy to catch on Instagram [https://www.instagram.com/davidpostoffice/]!
